The traits of successful storytellers

Put themselves in the position of the reader (audience) – What will hold my reader’s interest?
Use strong and vivid verbs
Create original metaphors and similes (if you heard them before, they are not original)
Include dialogue (properly punctuated)
Provide clear details about characters, actions, setting
Make images that engage all five senses (sight, smell, touch, taste, hearing)
Show clear conflict and resolution
